Privacy
Tavora keeps your notes, plans and layouts on your own PC. This page explains the few things that leave it, and what this website does.
Tavora is in development and is used by a small group of testers. The online features and the account below work as described here.
This website
mytavora.app and docs.mytavora.app are static pages. They set no cookies, run no analytics and load no scripts or fonts from other companies.
The Tavora app
- No account is needed. Tavora works fully without one, and your games, notes, to-dos and saved layouts stay on your PC either way.
- Tavora does not collect usage data.
Tavora account (optional)
You can create an account in Settings > Account. Then your name, initials and picture go with you to every PC you sign in on. Tavora uses this data only to provide the account you asked for.
You must be at least 13 to create an account, and between 13 and 15 only with your parent's permission. You confirm this when you create the account; Tavora keeps nothing about your age.
- What the account keeps on Tavora's own server: your email address, when the account was made, your profile (name, initials, picture, and when you last changed it), and for each PC you are signed in on its operating system (Windows, Linux or macOS), when it was signed in and when it was last used.
- What it never keeps: a password (there is none), your connection address, the name of your PC, or your games, notes and anything else from your PC.
- Signing in works with a 6-digit code that Tavora emails to you; it lasts 10 minutes. While a code waits, the service keeps it only in scrambled (hashed) form, and counts how many codes went to an address, stored under a scrambled form of the address, for at most a day.
- The emails are delivered by Brevo (Sendinblue SAS, France, EU), which receives your address and the email only to deliver it. Open and click tracking are switched off.
- On your PC the sign-in is kept encrypted with your operating system's key store. It is never part of backups or diagnostic info, and modules never learn anything about your account.
- Your profile is shown only to you.
- Changing your email needs a code sent to the new address, and the old address gets a short notice.
- Deleting your account in Settings > Account removes the account, your profile and every sign-in from Tavora's service at once. The server's daily backups still hold it for up to 14 days, then it is gone. Signing out or deleting the account leaves everything on your PCs as it is.
- A sign-in that is not used for a year ends by itself. To ask what is stored about you, or to have it corrected or deleted, write to tavora.app@gmail.com.
Online game search
When you search for a game to add, the text you type is sent to Tavora's game database, which answers from its own list of games. You can turn this off in Settings, and the app keeps working offline with its built-in list.
- Only the text you type is sent. No account, device identifier or list of your games.
- The service does not log requests, so what you typed is not kept. To limit abuse it counts requests per connection address for about a minute, in memory only, and then forgets it.
- The game list is built from Wikidata (public domain, CC0) and Steam's public list of games.
Game icons
Tavora shows each game's own icon when it can find one, looking in this order and stopping at the first it finds:
- The installed game on your PC (Battle.net, Epic, GOG, EA and other launchers). This is read on your PC; nothing is sent.
- Your Steam folder on your PC. Also read on your PC.
- A small set of icons Tavora hosts, only while Online game search is on. The app downloads the list of games Tavora has icons for, finds your games in that list on your PC, and asks only for the icons it needs. Tavora's service can see which icon files are asked for, not who asks, and keeps no log.
- Steam's small icon for the game, downloaded from Steam. Like any request to Steam's public store, Steam sees the game's Steam number.
Icons are kept unchanged on your PC. A picture you choose yourself always comes first, and turning off “Game icons from this PC and Steam” in Settings returns to plain badges.
Sharing icons
If Tavora does not have a game's icon yet but your PC does, you can offer yours. This happens only when you press Share icon in the game's menu, or Share under Settings > Share game icons, and only while Online game search is on. Before anything is sent you see exactly what goes: the game's icon file from your PC, the game's id and its name, and nothing else. Nothing that identifies you is sent, and Tavora's service does not record who an icon came from. Each game is offered once.
An offered icon waits until a person at Tavora has looked at it. Only approved icons are ever shown to other players, and an icon that is not approved is deleted. If you think one should not be there, ask for its removal at the address below.
Steam library import
If you choose to import your Steam library, you give Tavora a Steam profile link or SteamID64. Your game details on Steam must be public for this to work.
- The request goes through Tavora's service, which asks Steam for the list of games you own and passes it straight back to your PC. This happens only when you ask for it.
- The service does not store your Steam ID or your library.
- You choose which games to add. Nothing is added to your library without you selecting it.
Steam
Steam data comes from the Steam Web API and is provided by Valve. Tavora is not made or endorsed by Valve. Valve, Steam and the Steam logo are trademarks and/or registered trademarks of Valve Corporation in the U.S. and other countries.
Game names, icons and trademarks
Game names and icons belong to their publishers and are trademarks of their owners. Tavora is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by them. Icons are used only to identify the games, are kept unchanged, and are never sold.
If you publish a game and want its icon removed from the icons Tavora hosts, write to tavora.app@gmail.com. The icon is removed promptly.
